The puzzle platformer par excellence. Having thought long and hard, I consider this (in conjunction with its sequel) to be the greatest game from the first four generations of video games.

"Vikings Are Usually Found on Ships, These Were Found in Space."
The Lost Vikings is a ye olde tale- Wait, nevermind, just from the first level one can tell this isn't a game that takes place in the past. Well, not even that really. This is one of those pre-modern, but still post-modern, you'll see what I mean.
The Graphics of The Lost Vikings are excellent, the enemies, Vikings, backgrounds, items, all of them are neatly made. There's not much to say here except that they're great for a Genesis game.
The Music can get extremely repetitive after a while. The sounds are synchronized and strange. Even for a game such as this. When you get hit, you'll get a slight "Grunt." And that's the only Voice Acting in the entire game. Then again, almost no, if any, Genesis games had Voice Acting. When you eat things, you'll hear a "Burp." The Cursor sounds are your typical "Beep."
The Gameplay would've been innovative way-back-when. The game is pure puzzle solving, but you take control of three Vikings, one at a time. Each has a unique ability, one can run and jump, one can attack, and one can defend and float. Using these three at different times, you must use them/place them individually, then use the others to get across or something else of that nature. You also get bombs which, as you guessed it, open paths or something of the sort. You start out with 3HP (One hit = -1 HP) and can use apples or fruits to gain back HP. The puzzles are everywhere, and some of them can get you thinking. This is two player, where you and another person take control of two, and leave the third one to whomever needs it, this can also get a bit confusing, as the other person may not know what to do, or vice-versa. So I suggest having good communication skills before trying 2 Player.
The Story is that Three Vikings were living like Vikings do, when one day they were mysteriously teleported onto a Space Cruiser and separated. Eventually they find each other and are forced to find their way from the ship. As they Advance, they get closer and closer to reaching home. They run into some trouble, though...
There's not much Replay Value as I don't recall there being anything to unlock, but it is a good game to just randomly pick up and play one day if boredom gets the best of you, it can also be fun with Two Players, so if you're looking for something to play, this is it.

The Lost Vikings is a good game for Family, Friends, or just to play alone. It offers (Usually) complex challenges and puzzles with a mix of action and comedy.
