A Deluxe Edition was released, which combined the original F-15 Strike Eagle II with the add-on, Operation Desert Storm Scenario Disk, which included 8 all-new missions and a random mission generator as well as including the North Cape and Central Europe scenarios from F-19 (this time without the need for replacing your F-15 II scenarios).

In F15 II you can be followed all the way back to base by enemy jets - but don't expect any help, such as planes being scrambled or anti-aircraft fire - you're on your own! They just don't seem to care down there on the ground.
In the PC version if you ran out of fuel far from base, you could fly upside down and your F-15 would 'fall' upwards, so the player could make it all the way back to base without crashing. Not only that, but enemy missiles would not hurt your plane when flying this way.
Wild Bill Stealey was most annoyed when he discovered that MicroProse had commissioned different box art for the Amiga/ST version of the game, although he did admit that the painting was pretty excellent.
If you have F-19 Stealth Fighter, you can copy two of the game worlds over and play it with F-15 SE2, replacing two of the existing game worlds.
The game was simplified for the action fans. Your weapon choices have been reduced to your cannon, AMRAAM long-range air-to-air missile, Sidewinder short-range air-to-air missile, and the Maverick air-to-ground missile. This eventually inspired the F-15 Strike Eagle arcade game in 1991.
One of the first games, if not the first, that managed to playback a digital audio sample on the AdLib (remember: the AdLib only had a FM chip and no DAC). It was a voice at the beginning of the game which said "Strike Eagle, clear for takeoff". Microprose used that hack in M1 Tank Platoon around the same time. (And Stunt Track Racer used it for all game sound if you wanted it to. No surprise that all three games came from the same company. --Editor)

F-15 Strike Eagle II is an F-15 Strike Eagle combat flight simulator released in 1989 by MicroProse and is the sequel of F-15 Strike Eagle. It was followed in 1992 by F-15 Strike Eagle III, the final game of the series.
The plane is equipped with a M61 Vulcan and three different kinds of missiles, Sidewinders, AMRAAMs and Mavericks. In F-15 Strike Eagle II comes with four scenarios: Libya, Persian Gulf, Vietnam and Middle East. In a mission the player has to fight a variety of enemy aircraft, missile boats, satellite stations and other ground targets, to take out one primary and one secondary target, making sure to not attack friendly targets. Promotions and medals are based on the mission score.
Strike Eagle II was very similar in both appearance and game play to MicroProse's previous release F-19 Stealth Fighter.[1] Like all flight simulators of the time, realism was at times sacrificed due to either computing requirements or playability.
