Inadvertant (Unknown) 24th Aug 2014 12:37"The fourth and the best"
Conflict: Global Terror is the fourth in the Conflict series, which began with Conflict: Desert Storm and was continued with the slightly better Conflict: Desert Storm II, Back to Baghdad. The third one, Conflict: Vietnam, was a sad letdown due only to the aiming and controls scheme. I am pleased to say that the fourth one in the series is a great improvement and had the best graphics, controls, and story.
GRAPHICS
The graphics have been vastly improved since Conflict: Vietnam, and the games visuals in the day, at night, in night-vision or heat-vision are impressive. In heat-vision, the bullet holes individually light up and cool down. Explosions are beautiful indeed, as chucking a grenade into an enemy bunker is quite satisfying with the bright flash and burst of fire.
SOUND
The sound is a great step up as well. Voice overs are well done and most every noise is depicted. The music is also quite fitting to the game.
STORY
The first in the series not based on a past war, this game had to draw upon it own ingenuity to perform. The writers did very well, even adding a new character (whilst making another disappear). I cannot say anymore without giving away a spoiler.
CONTROLS
The controls are great. I've heard many bad things before playing the game, but I find it's only hard if you are inadequate at knowing where buttons are on the controller. No longer must you select a med-pack to heal a team member, just walk up and press 'A'. Also, you can tell your team members to pick up/heal/use items by pulling the left trigger and highlighting the desired item/person and pressing 'B' when the context sensitive command appears.
GAME PLAY
The limited saves per level add a certain, "Gotta do this right" attitude to the game. You will never be a one man army (except for Conner's, as Command cleverly jokes in training) and commanding your team is an easy affair. You can issue Open/Hold fire commands, On me/Halt commands and even delayed ambush commands to your one, two or all three members of your team.
OVERALL
I love this game. Me and my friends have beaten it on easy, normal and hard. We can't stop playing it, and at only 19.99 (new) it's a great deal.
Reviewer's Score: 8/10
