"The very best version of The Addams Family. Remember, patience is a virtue."

Introduction
Creepy or Kooky, it matters not. The Addams Family has never been given gaming justice. For years gamers have been swamped with a barrage of horrid titles that swarmed about the 16 bit era like a plague that even The Addams didn't take fondly to, despite their unorthodox customs and their penchant for the weird yet wonderful. Well there was one title that was probably avoided by the masses and that was the Commodore 64 version.

Gameplay 9/10
Addams Family is all about Skill and Patience. The idea of the game is to save all the members of The Addams Family. The problem is that all members are hidden deep within the Addams mansion. To find them you have to go through a series of tricky and HIGHLY challenging sections of platforming skill and action. Precision is essential, and to reach the end of the game is no easy feat.

Addams family is very unforgiving. One touch from an enemy, a spike or a fire ball and you lose a life. Addams requires cat like reflexes as most of its challenges requires you to jump or dodge fast moving objects, or requires you to jump on fast moving obstacles. When you finally get to a family member, to save them you have to pass a timed challenge which also tests your skills and reflexes to their limits. The challenge isn't for the faint of heart and people with a zero tolerance attitude shouldn't even look in this games direction. For gamers with a need a tough challenge to sate their gaming needs, The Addams Family is just what they need.

Visuals 8/10
For its time Addams looked ok, nothing fantastic by the consoles standards, but definitely nothing bad. Each area has enough background design to make it distinct, but mostly the design is normally a different shade of colour for platforms. The enemy and character design look ok, too.

Audio 4/10
There really was next to zero music. Apart from the title scene there is no music. The game does though provide you with a few annoying sound effects. Spikes dropping from the ceiling as the hit the floor, super loud electric fire balls that fly across the screen at rapid pace and the sounds of enemies' deaths when you stomp on their heads. The sounds are simple and by no means spectacular.

Replay Value 8/10
There is a huge challenge to be had with Addams Family, but like all other C64 games there is nothing new the next time you play. If you want to go through the game again to see how much better you have gotten them be my guest.

Conclusion
I think The Addams Family is a cracking game. The visuals and sound effects, despite being completely standard, do not bring the overall greatness of the game down. The gameplay is rich, inviting and so compelling that you'll ignore everything else. Addams Family provides you with a challenging adventure that the whole family can enjoy or cry over.
